ABOUT QUICKSILVER PRODUCTIONS

the music always comes first

Martha, Anna, Sam & Rob

At Quicksilver Productions, it all starts with kickin’ American roots music from our Cavalcade of Stars. For us, the music always comes first, and we approach our work with the same craftsmanship and loving care that our artists give to their songs. Working in booking or talent buying isn’t easy these days, and we understand the economics of today’s music business, in which there are many more artists than venues. That’s why we work so hard with each and every venue to be sure that our artists are the right fit for their stage.

we only book for the best bands

Despite the raging demand for booking agents, we’re extremely picky about which artists we work with, and we’re known for our taste in music. Good taste always comes first in our book, and we hand-select every artist based not only on their work in the recording studio, but especially their abilities on stage. Good performance skills are a learned art, and we’re not the kind of booking agency to take this lightly. We want every show to be explosive and inspirational, and this is the kind of feedback we love to get. American roots music is a way of life to us and to our artists, and we know it’s a way of life for you too. We’re here to make your job as a talent buyer easier, and we build trusting relationships with everyone we encounter.

a brief history of quicksilver productions

Martha Stracener Dantzic heads up Quicksilver Productions from her home base in Washington, DC. Born and raised in Alabama, Martha spent years in Alaska’s music scene, working on the board of the Alaska Folk Festival and hosting a long-running roots music radio show on KTOO. After moving to DC, with her all-consuming passion for American roots music, she jump-started her own booking and management agency, inspired by her long standing friendships with Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, Foghorn Stringband, the Caleb Klauder Country Band, and Jackstraw.  Martha also produces concerts in DC, providing her a perspective from both sides of the field.  No matter what, she approaches her work first as a fan and friend of the artists. Her infectious enthusiasm for each band she works with is part of the reason she’s able to bring such focus and care to her work as a booking agent.

In 2011, Martha merged Quicksilver’s Cavalcade of Stars with the roster of renowned booking agent Rob Miller, and founder of Pickin’ Productions, to create a super roster that has only gotten better with time. Like Martha, Rob has a larger perspective on booking than most agents. For 10 years, he toured as a member of famed roots music band Sweet Sunny South, experiencing first hand the artist’s perspective of life on the road. Rob still runs Pickin’ Productions, producing three major concert series in Colorado, so he knows what it takes to put on great events.  And to maintain his pulse on the music scene, he hosts two programs on KVNF Radio in Western Colorado.

As Quicksilver grows, we’ve brought on other passionate music fans to help our artists’ realize their dreams. Our Contracts Administrator Anna Creek first came to work for Quicksilver after getting to know Martha and Rob during her time at Folk Alliance. After taking a hiatus from our Stars to hang out full time with her daughter, Anna is back in the saddle, cracking the whip to keep all the details in order. Samantha Schwartz joined Quicksilver’s team fresh out of college in 2013 and has become Rob and Martha's Administrative Director and right hand woman! Any project help or possible need, Sam has you covered.

Martha and Quicksilver know how to find the acts that fit that sweet spot of the Americana sound we at WNCW get excited about. Foghorn, Frank Solivan, I Draw Slow, Town Mountain… Quicksilver has great taste in real, genuine Americana artists.
— Martin Anderson Music Director & Morning Host, WNCW-FM
Working with Quicksilver has been like working with family and when they call, I answer! They are so accommodating and represent some of my favorite bands!
— Ashlee-Jean Trott, Music City Roots
I’ve worked with a lot of booking agents, but hands down my favorites are Quicksilver Productions, either Martha or Rob. The thing is I know that they care about the music as much as I do and that they care about the show working well and going off with a bang. I feel like they’re on my side as a concert and festival producer. They’re professional and they get it down and at the end of the day I know that we share the same passion for what we’re doing. That means a lot to me.
